The impact of COVID-19 on airfreight
According to IATA, there will be strong demand for airfreight once the COVID vaccine is officially announced. Freight costs are not expected to stabilise to sometime after this event.
Once passenger flights start operating again, it is expected that airfreight costs will remain high until passenger traffic levels return to pre-crisis levels.
The trade embargo between UAE and Israel has now been lifted:
- Shipping services between the countries are now available
- DHL has started courier services as of October 1
- Maersk Line has started sea freight services to Israeli ports; Haifa and Ashdod as of October 1
- Airfreight services are yet to be confirmed
