Q & A with Benedikt Leisten, Managing Director of European operations
Our most recent announcement saw a newly appointed group CEO, new headquarters in Dublin and acquisition of a promising European team in Germany and Bosnia & Herzegovina, formerly known as Elatec CSS (Card and Security Solutions) as well as a second SAS-certified SIM card production facility.
We have a sit-down with the new managing director of our European operations, Benedikt Leisten to find out about Elatec’s transition into Workz.
How does it feel to be part of the Workz family? How would you describe the transition?
This transition to form Workz’ European operations is a step in the right direction. I am proud to be a part of this company with an experienced team and together, achieve global growth where I can play the part of providing the regional support needed to establish a stronger European footprint. Being a part of a company that’s ranked as the world number one scratch card manufacturer and among the top 10 SIM card manufacturers along with the recent developments in eSIM remote provisioning for the consumer and M2M market promises an exciting journey. I look forward to seeing us flourish together in the telecom market and further becoming a major player as an eSIM provider in this IoT industry.
How has the integration into Workz been? What’s changed?
Integration is like a journey to a destination, and we are currently on that journey. It is a challenging one since it brings about change. But this journey has made us gain a great deal of experience which will help us formulate our path in the near future.
How did your team react when you told them about the integration?
My team believes that we are a perfect match for each other, coming from the same industry. Combining forces together catapults a strong business contingency plan that will equip us in this dynamic market.
What does this transition mean for your customers? And customers across the world?
99% of our customers have been working with us for many years without any disruption owing to our short lead-times and local presence with an experienced support team. This move will prove beneficial to our customers, current and future, as a sign of greater capabilities to provide them with the best-quality and cost-efficient solutions delivered by industry specialists.
What is your initial impression of Workz?
It’s a great company led by an experienced team of subject matter experts.
What do you think the future holds for the new Workz Group?
To me, Workz will be seen as a major player in the IoT industry and as an eSIM provider of remote SIM provisioning solutions for the consumer and M2M markets.
Which Workz products excite you most?
The IoT eSIM and remote SIM provisioning solutions since it’s the future and I can’t wait to see it unravel.
How do you envisage your role and your team’s role under the Workz brand?
As the regional support for Workz, we aim to help develop the European market and be known as a key player in the SIM, eSIM and IoT world.
How do you think the European market differs from MEA & Asia?
I feel the European market is still a developing one and can learn a great deal from the other markets.
Any predictions for the mobile industry in 2019?
The year 2019 will see widespread change in the telecom industry which will continue for the next 5 years. The eSIM revolution has set in motion a transformation that has been expected for a few years. We now live in a new era of the mobile industry and we all look forward to the opportunities it brings.
