Enable streamlined connectivity with IFPP

GSMA In-Factory Profile Provisioning (IFPP) is a specification that enables network operators and OEMs to provision eUICC profiles to devices during the manufacturing process. This allows devices to be shipped with one or more pre-provisioned profiles, which can be activated by the end user.

Why use IFPP?

IFPP is an extension of the GSMA’s Remote SIM Provisioning (RSP) specification and offers several benefits for MNOs and device manufacturers:

Reduced costs with single SKU | Workz

Reduced costs with single SKU

IFPP streamlines the manufacturing process by eliminating the need to ship devices with SIM cards, enabling device manufacturers to operate on a single stock-keeping unit (SKU) and saving OEMs and MNOs money on shipping and logistics costs. Device manufacturers can also save money by not needing to install SIM cards in devices during manufacturing.
Out-of-the-box connectivity | Workz

Out-of-the-box connectivity

IFPP offers an improved customer experience by making it easier for end users to activate their devices with pre-provisioned profiles on the device as soon as they open the box, hence removing the need to procure a SIM card. This provides OEMs and MNOs more flexibility in how they offer connectivity based with pre-provisioned profiles, offering end-users more choice and being able to cater to different regions or usage requirements.

Fast offline process | Workz

Fast offline process

IFPP offers a high-speed offline process for provisioning of eUICC profiles, avoiding the slower option of online provisioning through a SM-DP+.

No certification costs | Workz

No certification costs

As GSMA SAS certification is not required for IFPP, it offers providers reduced cost and administration when compared to standard onsite SM-DP+ implementations.

On-demand options | Workz

On-demand options

IFPP enables last mile offline provisioning on demand, allowing providers to provision a later stage in production if required.

Device binding | Workz

Device binding

IFPP offers late binding options that allow a profile to be linked to a specific device eID. This may be useful in cases such as enterprise deployments where profiles are required to be provisioned only on company devices.

IFPP use cases

IFPP is a relatively new technology with the GSMA’s specification currently still in development; nevertheless, it is already gaining traction in the industry, with several OEMs and MNOs having announced their support for it.

Here are some examples of how IFPP is being used today:

Smartphones and other consumer devices

Smartphones and other consumer devices allow end-users to activate their devices without worrying about obtaining a SIM card.

Machine-to-machine (M2M) devices enable instant mobile connectivity without human intervention
