GSMA In-Factory Profile Provisioning (IFPP) is a specification that enables network operators and OEMs to provision eUICC profiles to devices during the manufacturing process. This allows devices to be shipped with one or more pre-provisioned profiles which can be activated by the end user.
Why use IFPP?
IFPP is an extension of the GSMA’s Remote SIM Provisioning (RSP) specification and offers several benefits for MNOs and device manufacturers:
Reduced costs with single SKU
IFPP streamlines the manufacturing process as it eliminates the need to ship devices with SIM cards, therefore, enabling device manufacturers to operate on a single Stock Keeping Unit (SKU), which can save OEMs and MNOs money on shipping and logistics costs. Device manufacturers can also save money by not needing to install SIM cards in devices during the manufacturing process
Out-of-the-box connectivity
IFPP offers an improved customer experience by making it easier for end users to activate their devices with pre-provisioned profiles on the device as soon as they open box, hence, removing the need to procure a SIM card. This provides OEMs and MNOs more flexibility in how they offer connectivity based with pre-provisioned profiles offering end-users more choice and being able to cater to different regions or usage requirements.

No certification costs
As GSMA SAS certification is not required for IFPP it offers providers reduced cost and administration when compared to standard onsite SM-DP+ implementations.

IFPP enables last mile offline provisioning on demand which allows providers to provisioning a later stage in production stage if required.
