Workz scratch card warranty
  1. Workz manufacturers scratch cards that are made of board, ink, varnish and latex which are sealed in plastic wrapping for security. The composition of these materials make it possible to destroy the face of the card, rip or tear the card if adequate care is not taken. Misuse of cards as a result of end user abuse and / or attempts to defraud the network operator are not covered under this warranty. Misuse of the cards includes using scratch tools that are too sharp, too much pressure, too long a duration scratching, or a combination of all three which results in the gouging of the card board substrate. Workz will investigate warranty claims only for customers whose account are current and in good standing.

    1. Workz warranty does not apply to: a) damage caused by accident, abuse or misuse b) to damage caused by operating Workz products outside Workz guidelines; c) to Workz products that have been modified to alter functionality or capability without the written permission of Workz. Workz guarantees its recharge cards for quality and workmanship under its’ Acceptable Use Criteria and will repair, replace or credit cards deemed not fit-for-purpose by Workz. Workz reserves the right to make changes to materials and processes where such changes have a positive or neutral impact on the overall product performance.
    2. Fit-for-purpose is deemed to be the ability for a card to be distributed into the channel to an end user and when the latex panel is scratched correctly, the PIN number is revealed.
    3. Workz Acceptable Use Criteria for overscratch is defined as 20 scratch attempts (10 cycles) or more when scratching with a coin, or fingernail at 15 Newton force (approx 1.5 kg) before visible damage to the PIN occurs.
    4. Workz recharge cards are quality tested in batches before leaving the factory and are deemed fit-for-purpose under Workz Acceptable Use Criteria for over-scratch.
    5. Workz does not warrant cards for end user abuse or over scratch where a sharp or pointed object is used to gouge the panel or that repeatedly rips the board surface of the PIN panel area revealing the white board material underneath the protective varnish and ink layers and thus damaging the PIN.
    6. Workz retains sample cards and quality control records from every production run that can be referenced later for cross testing and verification.
    7. Industry standard “over-scratch” failure rates for scratch cards (in established silkscreen markets) is less than 0.075%.
    8. Workz does not warrant cards for overscratch performance due to end user misuse, neglect, or improper storage and handling (temperature and moisture) while in the distribution channel.
    9. Workz cards are not be exposed to water, moisture, or rain. However, they are shipped in plastic packaging that will provide some measure of protection during transit.
    10. Card damage due to moisture, or water damage is deemed end-user misuse and is not covered by this warranty.
    11. Workz will investigate all warranty claims and assign a complaint number to the case.
    12. In order to conduct a thorough investigation, Workz may require information relating to the conditions surrounding the claim which may include:
      – samples
      – complaint details/call-centre records
      – serial ranges
      – volumes
      – channel distribution information
      – burn rates
      – statistical information
    13. Lack of providing this information may delay the investigation and invalidate the adjudication process.
    14. Workz Warranty adjudication process includes:
      a) Logging of the complaint with a complaint number.
      b) Damaged cards to be returned to Workz for investigation and testing.
      c) Workz will issue an investigation report.
      c) Workz testing criteria and conclusion are final.
    15. Workz adopts the World Lottery Association Standards for card fraud which you can find here.
    16. In assessing the security risks associated with card fraud attempts, any of the following compromise factors may give rise to a security issue.
    17. For a ticket to be considered a serious security risk all of the following criteria must be met:
      a) A compromise reveals enough information to determine if a ticket is a winner.
      b) A compromise is completed fairly rapidly and easily (within 5 minutes).
      c) A compromise and repair leaves the ticket in saleable condition.
      d) A compromise involves the use of readily available resources.
    18. A compromise is easily repeatable and does not require specialized knowledge.
    19. A compromise is not rated as a serious security issue if it meets any one of the following criteria:
      a) Reveals too little data to determine winning status.
      b) Cannot be completed within 5 minutes.
      c) Does damage that would not allow the ticket to be sold.
      d) Needs ‘exotic’ equipment.
      e) Is not easily repeatable or requires specialized knowledge.
    20. Any fraud involving the assailant using the credit on the customer network before selling the card to a third party should be referred to the police and is not warrantable.
    21. Workz reserves the right to modify the security composition at our sole discretion specifically for low volume remakes of cards that are damaged during the manufacturing process whereby remakes are made offline using labels under high security conditions.
    22. For Workz General Terms & Conditions please refer here.
    23. This page can be considered Workz’ current Recharge Card Warranty statement.
    24. To reduce customer complaints and/or customer abuse, Workz recommends:
      – include the words “scratch gently” on the card
      – use of finger or coin to remove scratch panel
      – coaching dealers and distributors to provide guidance to end-users at the point of sale
      – a card design with a separate QR code to provide a second chance to recover the PIN
      – a built-in scratch tool in the card where coins are not available in the market
    25. Please note that when changing card suppliers and or card types, a prior discussion about the new card performance and card expectations is required to agree performance standards should include the following points:
      – Workz recharge card products are highly regarded as the market’s best performing product using the latest technology available. As a result, over 1bn Workz recharge cards were delivered to market in 2015. Nevertheless, when changing card suppliers and card products, there will be a market reaction due to product variances.
      – Latex label technology will perform differently than older label technologies with the largest variable being the ease of scratch increasing significantly.
      – Ease of scratch versus the overscratch variables should be discussed, understood and agreed prior to placing an order.
      – Written approval for latex label overscratch and ease of scratch values of the samples provided is required.
      – Golden samples will be kept by both parties for review at a later date if and when required.

Digital proof final artwork

The digital proof final artwork is for your review and final approval.

In case a machine proof (physical sample) is NOT required, please state this clearly in your approval.  It is important to carefully review all aspects of the digital proof since production will be based on your approval.

In case a machine proof (physical sample) is required please review the digital proof thoroughly to avoid any mistakes, delays or extra costs.

Artwork confirmation

Please check all aspects of the digital proof, in particularly, your approval should verify the following:

      1. Artwork elements, colour scheme and layout
      2. Text/language
      3. Barcodes (including actual readability)
      4. Variable data format (length, grouping and syntax), fonts, approximate size and positioning

Content, colour & layout

The digital proof is a representation of the content, colours and layout of your product. The proof indicates the colour but may not depict the exact colour which will be printed on the final product due to on-screen or file format differences, different materials and production processes. Workz will match any customer defined Pantones as close as possible and will therefore reserve the right to change the stated colour(s) specified below in order to achieve these. Any other colour references in the digital proof are only for production reference purposes only.

Variable data

Any variable data (i.e. PIN, serial number, barcodes, product expiry date, etc.) depicted in the digital proof are subject to change and confirmation via the data summary report (i.e. variable data will be as per your data file) or in the case of SIM production the output file created by Workz.

Due to the production process of printing variable data, small variations in appearance compared to the digital proof may occur. As data verification is of paramount importance, Workz reserves the right to make minor changes to the appearance of variable data to enable verification on the production lines.

If you have any questions, please let us know as soon as possible and we will then address those as best as we can.

Workz’ environmental policy

Our aim is to proactively reduce the impact that our activities have on the environment without compromising the service and quality we provide to the customer, meeting all our customers’ requirements and expectations. We are fully compliant with all environmental regulations. As a SIM and scratch card manufacturer, we place emphasis on the below elements to reduce our carbon footprint and impact on the environment and encourage others to do the same:

  • Eco printing
  • Effective waste management
  • Optimised freight management
  • Reduction of plastic
  • Overall reduction of environmental pollution or harm to wildlife

Eco printing:

We follow environmentally sustainable practices for all SIM and scratch card printing. This approach aims to eliminate or reduce the environmental hazards (footprint) of our entire production process.

Effective waste management:

We are continually working to improve our process by reducing the wastage in terms of raw materials and energy, and seeking more environmentally sustainable raw materials. As part of the continual improvement, waste is reducing by:

  • Re-use of materials like ink, films, boards, papers, plastic
  • Reduction of waste by standardising the process
  • Recycled production waste
  • Optimising the packing specification
  • Responsible and efficient use of equipment and materials

Optimised freight management to reduce carbon footprint

Changing the air freight mode of transport to sea freight or land freight not only saves costs but reduces the CO2 footprint by an average of 90%. Another way of freight optimisation is the reduction of ‘empty space’ inside shipping containers i.e. full utilisation of allocated shipping space. We work with clients to ensure optimised freight solutions to all our shipments where such options are available. We plan purchases to allow longer lead times and use eco-friendly modes of transport and heavily encourage clients to do the same. In addition, we aim to procure closer to the market wherever possible.

Reduction of plastic

Our team applies continuous effort to reduce the use of plastic components by:

  • Removing plastic packaging options from our product offering
  • Encouraging customers to remove plastic entirely or (where this is not possible) procure less plastic
  • Replacing plastic components such as shrink-wrap, plastic stickers and polypropylene or PVC cases with bio-degradable options
  • Removing plastic wrapping from inner transportation boxes
  • Offering more bio-degradable or “digital” administrative solutions

Reduction in environmental pollution:

Pollution control is one of the main aspects for Workz, as a SIM and scratch card supplier to maintain an eco-friendly environment inside and outside the premises. Below are the controls we take to reduce pollution:

  • Checking noise levels through sound monitoring and adding mechanical controls where possible
  • A dust collector is used in the process to reduce the level of dust in the work environment to within acceptable standard PPM
  • Ontime shredding of printed board, waste and waste removal to reduce the risk of fire and hazards due to poor housekeeping
  • Training will be provided to all staff in the use of appropriate PPE but all efforts are made to reduce the necessity for the use of protective equipment.
