Network operator’s most frequently asked questions on consumer eSIM

In this video we answer network operator’s most popular questions regarding the growing consumer eSIM market.

Are you looking to capture new eSIM users on your network but have a few questions?

Here are some of the frequently asked questions regarding consumer eSIM remote provisioning and how to get started:

What devices work with your solution?
All consumer devices with GSMA-compliant eSIMs – this is pretty much all your devices you see on the market today including those from leading manufacturers such as Apple, Samsung etc.

Can you provide a demo before I go ahead?
Sure, we can provide a demo with our devices or your own devices using our own network connectivity so you can see exactly how things work.

Do I need a GSMA-approved hosted solution?
No, but a GSMA-certified solution is recommended to guarantee a fully interoperable and future-proof solution.

Do I need to work with an Apple-approved partner to connect Apple devices?
To be able to provision Apple devices, you do not need to work with an Apple-approved partner, however, if you would like to use the Entitlement Server then this is a requirement which our solution provides.

Do I need an Entitlement Server?
This is not required for iPhones but it is mandatory for provisioning the Apple Watch.

Can subscribers use the same number across devices?
Yes, this simply works the same as it does currently using the existing number portability process.

What happens if the subscriber deletes the profile?
Once the profile is deleted it returns to the secure profile pool database. For the customer to reactivate the profile they will need to contact the operator so the DP+ can be updated with the matching ID and the existing QR code can be re-used or a new QR code assigned.

Can a subscriber use the same QR code to re-download a profile, for example, to a second device?
Whilst this is not part of the GSMA specification it is possible and can be done based on your requirement, however, it’s important to note that a profile can only be active on one device at a time, therefore, it must be deactivated on the previous device first.

Can I restrict users to just my network profile?
No, GSMA-compliant eSIMs enable multiple profiles to be provisioned.

Is your solution secure?
Absolutely, we are certified by the GSMA’s Security Accreditation Scheme and ISO 27001 and guarantee the highest level of information security having securely managed over ten billion connections without a single security breach.

Can I have dual suppliers?
Yes. Workz offer a non-proprietary and full interoperable solution enabling you to fulfil dual or multiple supplier functionality just as you would for traditional UICC SIM requirements.

Do you offer remote SIM provisioning for M2M eSIMs?
Absolutely, we offer a specialised M2M solution to cater to the M2M architecture and its requirements with profile development and testing, a cloud-hosted SM-DP and SM-SR platform with remote SIM provisioning services.
